things i learned this weekend

  1. Second chances are a good thing. Forgiveness is a gift; But never forget.
(I'm sure we all know to whom this is in reference to)
  2. If you promised days earlier to make everyone breakfast, don't puss out because you are too hungover. People are hungry and you said you would do it. Nut it up.
  3. It really is a talent to swim, smoke, and drink simultaneously.
  4. Team America: World Police is the best movie to quote on the 4th of July.
  5. You also must always pronounce the country's name as Amur'ca. And say "Get 'er done"every 20-30 minutes.
  6. Sometimes I look up to the sky and think... DAMN! Thats a whole lotta stars. I love those nights. It makes me feel so small.
  7. Journey makes everything better.
  8. Lake Billy Chinook is truly breathtaking.
  9. If you plan on making mojitos for the day, please don't tell me I can't have any until after I've been already drinking for 4 hours already. Haven't you heard of "Beer then liquor, never sicker?!"
  10. I'm on a boat!!
  11. *Side note: I love my "Flock of Seagulls" bikini. Apparently my hair really does too.
*Side-side note: Don't my aviators rock?!
*Side-side-side note: I look totally fat here. Grrrrrr
  12. When you and your over 30, thicker in the middle, not Jersey Shore tanned, friends are on a boat, it is recommended that you DO NOT tie up to a bunch of MTV Spring Break wannabes, bumping their rap music, drinking from their Solo cups. The amount of eye rolling and general feeling of disdain wafting towards you will be overwhelming. (Although mildly hilarious).
  13. Cool Whip and fruit make a much better cake topping than traditional icing. Especially when the strawberries are perfection.

Quote of the weekend:
"We have plenty of ammo, and plenty of beer... but we're out of cigarettes and propane. I love it here cause it makes all my problems complete nonsense."
Hope you all had an AMAZING weekend!!

goodwill for me. goodwill for you.

The following are reasons I love going to Goodwill. And second hand stores in general.

Shall I meet you in the Bingo Hall?

Oh yeah, that's a ONESIE. Like a swimming suit, only better.

Its hideous! And yet I can't look away.

There, are no words.

Keep it real,

happy birthday america... and all that jazz

First off... I want to say a big THANK YOU for everyone who gave me support yesterday! You don't know how much you kiddies mean to me. Its a surprising little support network we've got here!

An update, Mr. man has backed out of this weekend. I'm really not sure what his deal is. He's worried about his cat, the oil leak in his car, etc, etc. I literally called him out and asked simply
"It seems you really don't want to spend any time with me. Are you wanting me to break up with you? Cause you're sure acting like it."
He says NO! But he also says that he doesn't know what he wants me to do, or whats going on with him. I guess he's stressed, confused, and doesn't know what to do with his emotions (or how to properly deal with stress). Whatevs.

So there you have it. I'm done with worrying. We talked for over an hour, and I feel good about it. I said everything I was wanting to say to him, and more. I'm leaving it all in his court now.

I'm DETERMINED to have fun this weekend. I'm still going to the lake and camping with some good times friends. He says he may come out tomorrow (if he gets his car fixed). I'm not going to hold my breath, I'm just going to focus on the positive and let him deal with his shit. I've tried to help, and I'm really getting nowhere. I'll just leave him be, and basically be there for him when he figures his shit out. Until he tells me how to help him, I can't do much.

So everyone... Have a great weekend! Cause that's what I'm gonna do!!

Cheers! Have some beers! Have some hotdogs and hamburgers! Eat so much potato salad if comes out your ears! Enjoy the fireworks! Do what makes you happy! Cause we all deserve to be happy!!

Now I have to get back to inflating this inner tube. I had to take a break cause I was about to pass out, but the River Rat sure as shit ain't gonna inflate itself!! Word!!

Now please enjoy some 4th of July inspired eCards.

*Disclaimer: This post is heavy in melancholy, whining, and general feeling sorry for myself. You've been warned.*

Happy July! Good Christ, I can't believe its July already.

I wish I could be thinking about this weekend. Thinking about camping, and playing on the lake, in the boat. Thinking about bbqing and drinking and fireworks. But unfortunately I'm not.

All I can think about is that I haven't stayed at the boyfriend's place in almost 3 weeks. That he's slowly but surely pulling away from me, spending less and less time together.

When I finally worked up the courage to ask him if "we" were okay, or if there was anything going on that I needed to be aware of, any issues, he said no. I try to take solace in that. But its just hard to ignore all the non-verbal signs. We still hang out, although not every night like we used to. Maybe 2 times a week. He still texts, but not as much, he still calls, but not as much. Its just weird.

I try to take mom and friend's advice and "busy myself" which is incredibly hard to do when you're unemployed. Not to mention the fact that even when I'm "busy" I have the multi-tasking feminine mind that can obsess about men and be working, or reading, or watching a movie all at the same time. Goddammit. I've always wished for the simplicity (and don't be angry boys, I think its a blessing) of the one track mind that most men seem to have. "I'm working, working working. Working, working, working. Lunch, work work work. Oh wait, its been 3 days, and I haven't called my girlfriend." Well, maybe not quite that bad, but you get the point.

I painted my toenails a festive red for the 4th of July. Decided I hated it cause I messed up too much and now I have one painted foot, and one not painted. Nice.

I actually read ONE WHOLE BOOK the other day, "busying" myself. (Sarah Silverman's Bedwetter. Quiet entertaining actually) I even started another and read nearly half!! I have a serious case of too much time on my hands.

Don't get me wrong. I'm very good at hiding my internal freak outs from the boyfriend. I freak out to mom and friends... asking "what does this mean?" "he said this, how should I respond?" blah blah blah. Honestly I give him a LOT of space, so don't think that I'm crowding him or anything.

I just hope he's going through something that honestly doesn't have anything to do with me. And yet, I think to myself, his actions ARE affecting me, and therefore now concern me. *sigh* I just wish we (men and women) thought more alike. What a joke that we are paired the way we are, in the natural world, being so dissimilar! Funny, and yet sad.

I guess today its just particuarly worse that the last couple of days. Nothing particular has happened between US that would cause something new. As far as I know we're still planning on spending the weekend together.

Soooooo, now I'm busying myself. I got a hair cut today. I don't know if I like it... its a little blunt on the ends... whatever!! At least its all soft and has that "just went to the salon" smell!
Ignore the bags... I've had a rough week.

If you're still reading, thanks for getting through this with me. I wish my life was always fun and funny, so I could entertain you always!! But this is my blog, and that's just not me.

Word.
