THE drinking rules, part deux

Some of you may remember a post I did a few months back of THE Drinking Rules

Well a friend of mine passed along a great blog called American Drink in which they posted a similar such post. So good it bared repeating. Here you go!

Rules for My Born Son. And You.      by insooutso

1) Be polite and smile your brains out, but let the bartender flirt first. Always provide a number, never ask for one.

2) Decide what you will order on the drive to the bar. Eye contact is key, never wave money to get attention.

3) Vodka and Coke? That better be a joke.

4) If a song is longer than five minutes, save it for the black lights and the basement. If the song is Meatloaf, congrats on your gender reassignment surgery. Your mother and I still love you just the same.

5) Buy someone a drink because you want to drink with that person. It’s a sign of respect and enjoyment. Never do it for the sake of reciprocation and never expect something in return.

6) “Sorry, I was drunk,” is never an excuse. Ever.

7) Never get to the point of throwing up. If it accidentally happens, it better be in the bar bathroom. If you’re in the bathroom, always in the toilet - never in the sink or urinal. If there is mess in any way, shape or form, grab a mop. It is nobody’s job to clean up your bodily fluids. Did your friend throw up? Someone in your party is responsible for clean-up.

8) Friends can talk friends out of driving when they shouldn’t. Real friends listen.
Reoccurring problem? Reevaluate your friendship.

9) Blended drink? You better have sand between your toes, mister.

10) A proper White Russian is made at home. Never trust bar dairy.

11) There is no shame in getting punched if you are conspicuously trying to break up a fight. Fight between two women? Tread lightly, your role could get misconstrued. Additionally, it would be wise to head to another establishment.

12) Never bet on pool.

13) Did they turn up the lights? Go home. Don’t offer to help stock or clean; it looks desperate and you are probably getting in the way.

14) No politics. No religion.

15) It is safer to lick a urinal cake than it is to eat bar-top snack mix.

16) Always know the ingredients. Shots have many different names and chances are that the bartender doesn’t know what it is outside of the normal realm of shots (Bend Me Overs, Red Snappers, et al). If you give him/her the ingredients, there is a strong chance that they even know how to portion it correctly based off of the ingredients chosen. Lots of mixers? You better be ordering a round for the table and not an individual shot.

17) Never drop a drink into a drink. Never light anything on fire. Never slam your shot glass on the bar.

18) Alcohol doesn’t do certain things to certain people. If somebody claims that tequila makes them violent, it’s because they’re a violent person. Simple as that.

19) Make your own toasts. Sentimentality is good. Honesty is good. Poignant is good. Repeating what somebody else said is a quote, not a toast.

20) Compared to life, loss or lock down, cabs are virtually free

Totally great advice!! I love it!

a penny saved is a penny earned... in blood

If you save a penny every single day for thirty years you will have enough pennies to literally bury your worst enemy alive in copper.

If he has allergies to copper, his death will be exceptionally painful, causing word of your savagery and thriftiness to spread throughout the lands.

Otherwise it will be a moderately painful death, which isn't too shabby when you consider the price.

I. Can't. Wait. For. Summer!
Good gravy I've got the itch. And the only cream that's going to cure it is sunscreen! We just had 2 days of sunshine, and now... Back to April Showers.
Hurry up May Flowers!
I'm planning a trip to Yosemite with Mr. Man this summer.

GORGEOUSSSSS!
Ever been? Any tips or suggestions?

I really hate Rachel Ray. She's so obnoxious!
I've always thought she seemed really fake.
Then, some friends went to see her show in NyC. They said she was just as fake as I had thought. She didn't come out and chat to the audience at all, and was running around bitching at her production assistants.

LAME! No thanks.

This weekend I'm going to dog sit for this guy:

I mean seriously... Isn't he the CUTEST?!?
His name is Utley, he's a Puggle (Pug/Beagle) He's INSANELY energetic, but I'm super excited to hang out with this little guy for the whole weekend!!

Looking for something fun to do? I just found this site through Facebook of all places.
My local Oregon site is http://365thingsportland.com/

Almost all the major cities have one. I cruised around the Portland site and found so many fun cool things to do and try. I'm even excited to check out a Murder Mystery dinner theater. How fun!

he's a superfreak! he's superfreakkkky

Don't worry this isn't a anti- or pro-war blog... I for the most part try to keep this place politics free... just read its really interesting!!

Excerpt from SUPERFREAKONOMICS:

"From 2002 to 2008, the United States was fighting bloody wars in Afghanistan and Iraq; among active military personnel, there were an average of 1,643 fatalities per year. But over the same stretch of time in the early 1980s, with the United States fighting no major wars, there were more than 2,100 military deaths per year. How can this possibly be?

For one, the military used to be much larger: 2.1 million on active duty in 1988 versus 1.4 million in 2008. But even the rate of death in 2008 was lower than the certain peacetime years. Some of this improvement is likely due to better medical care. But a surprising fact is that the accidental death rate for soldiers in the early 1980s was higher than the death rate by hostile fire fore very year the United Stats has been fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq. It seems that practicing to fight a war can be just about as dangerous as really fighting one.

And, to further put things in perspective, think about this: since 1982, some 42,000 active U.S. military personnel have been killed-- roughly the same number of Americans who die in traffic accidents in a single year."
On an unrelated note...
I just watched The Perfect Getaway this week. The movie over all is lackluster, but the ending was kind of cool. However, I am now in love with Timothy Olyphant. He's been in tons of movies (Live Free or Die Hard, Hitman, Catch & Release, Rockstar, Dreamcatcher, Go, the Deadwood TV series, and coming soon... The Crazies), but this one... Mmmmm Mmmmm MMMMMM! Yummy!

do you know what it means to have a 'plethora'?

After an argument with an idiot, I'd like to clarify a topic for all...

Even a waterproof sunblock needs to be reapplied. All the waterproof label means is that you'll be protected for approximately 2hrs while you are in/at/on/around/near the water.

As soon as you get out of the water you dry off, which rubs off the sunblock.
You need to reapply after getting out of the water.

Don't believe me? Put on waterproof sunblock, wait 15 minutes (the amount of time recommended before going into the water) and then wade into knee deep water. Watch as your sunscreen washes away in the oil-slicked water.

Also, be sure to get a sunblock that is broad spectrum, meaning it blocks both UVA and UVB rays.

UVA rays cause aging effects.
UVB rays cause burning.

The SPF indicates the time a person can be exposed to sunlight before getting sunburn with a sunscreen applied relative to the time they can be exposed without sunscreen. For example, someone who would burn after 10 minutes in the sun would expect to burn after 500 min if protected by a sunscreen with SPF 50.

Thank you, and go forth and sun yourself!
